The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ottavainen throws a leg kick that is checked
and Monfriesz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ottavainen throws a low kick, looking for Monfriesz's leg but Monfriesz calmly moves out of range.
Monfriesz checks a leg kick nicely.
Monfriesz misses with a combination
and Ottavainen counters with a leg kick.

Ottavainen throws a low kick but Monfriesz moves out of range easily.

Monfriesz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Monfriesz lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Johnny Monfriesz.

and Monfriesz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Monfriesz avoids a kick to the body.
Ottavainen lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Monfriesz throws a quick inside leg kick.
Monfriesz connects with a body shot.
Ottavainen tries to close the distance and clinch but Monfriesz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ottavainen is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Monfriesz is looking to slow Ottavainen down with leg kicks.
Ottavainen throws a series of punches but Monfriesz avoids them all with ease.

Monfriesz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Monfriesz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ottavainen sprawls well initially but Monfriesz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ottavainen is refusing to be controlled, as Monfriesz sits in half guard.
Ottavainen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Monfriesz.

Monfriesz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Monfriesz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ottavainen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Monfriesz is trying to control. Ottavainen wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Monfriesz is looking to pass Ottavainen's guard but actually Ottavainen recovers to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ottavainen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Monfriesz off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Monfriesz throws a lazy right hand but Ottavainen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ottavainen throws a head kick that misses.
An inside leg kick from Ottavainen misses.

and Monfriesz counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Monfriesz lands a really nice looking cross but Ottavainen seems unphased.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Monfriesz.
Monfriesz misses with a few strikes there.
Ottavainen throws a sloppy head kick
and Monfriesz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Monfriesz pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ottavainen is out of range and Monfriesz settles back down.

A jab lands there for Monfriesz.
Monfriesz throws a leg kick that misses.
Monfriesz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ottavainen on the side of the head.

Ottavainen is rocked!
Ottavainen is holding his hands too far apart here. Monfriesz throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Ottavainen is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!
