PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Fatch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sasha Lebedev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Fatch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sasha Lebedev!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lebedev feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Fatch's calf.
Fatch throws a combination. Lebedev tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Fatch looks to land a combination. Lebedev sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


Lebedev is rocked!
Fatch throws a right hand that Lebedev ducks under and follows up with a left that Lebedev also avoids with ease.
Horrible takedown by Lebedev or perhaps it was just good defense by Fatch which made him look bad.
Fatch misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lebedev blocks a jab.
Fatch throws a right hand that Lebedev ducks under and follows up with a left that Lebedev also avoids with ease.

Lebedev staying out of range there.

Lebedev feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fatch tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Lebedev goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Fatch has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lebedev but great work by Fatch.
Lebedev is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Fatch off and has taken his back!

Lebedev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lebedev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fatch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lebedev is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Lebedev slips a nice elbow through Fatch's hands, connecting with Fatch's forehead.

Lebedev is trying to work for a kimura but Fatch is defending well.
Lebedev moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Fatch.

Fatch is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Lebedev thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Fatch is trying to improve his position.

Lebedev tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Lebedev is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fatch has escaped the position, nice work there.

Lebedev is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fatch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fatch manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Lebedev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fatch is just riding it out for now. Lebedev eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lebedev trying to control the action but Fatch is working from the bottom.

Lebedev is working for a submission of some sort.

Lebedev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lebedev is thwarting Fatch's attempts to control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fatch blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lebedev.
Lebedev moves nicely into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Fatch misses with an uppercut. Lebedev saw that one coming.
Fatch wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A big left from Fatch misses.
Fatch throws a series of punches but Lebedev moves out of range.
Jim Fatch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fatch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Lebedev counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lebedev.
Fatch is looking to stand up but Lebedev isn't so interested in that idea.
Fatch throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Lebedev decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Lebedev decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fatch's guard.

Lebedev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fatch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lebedev has Fatch in his guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Lebedev is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fatch keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lebedev's head.
Fatch advances position into side control!
Lebedev gets back to half guard.

Fatch is working for a kimura but Lebedev is defending it quite comfortably.

Lebedev is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Fatch pulls his head out easily.

Lebedev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fatch's guard.
Lebedev is pushing down on Fatch's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fatch is fighting to maintain full guard but Lebedev has managed to sneak the leg through.

Fatch wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Lebedev counters with a flying knee. Nice.

A nice inside leg kick there by Lebedev. That's going to slow Fatch down.

Lebedev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fatch sprawls well initially but Lebedev persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lebedev is pressing down on Fatch's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fatch is holding on for now.
Sasha Lebedev has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fatch is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lebedev's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lebedev's back!
Lebedev manages to reverse the position and now he's in Fatch's guard. Nice work there by Lebedev.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sasha Lebedev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
