Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Raul Kinionez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Big Box!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Box has his takedown stuffed
and Box takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Box misses with a takedown attempt
and Kinionez counters with a nice uppercut.
Kinionez misses with a wild combination.

Kinionez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Box!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kinionez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Box wants to try and get back to his feet.
Kinionez controlling his opponent.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kinionez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Kinionez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Box on the ground.
Kinionez lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Kinionez stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Kinionez drives through and clinches with Box against the cage.
Box throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kinionez blocks it with crossed arms.
Kinionez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kinionez tries to score a body lock takedown but Box shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kinionez tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Kinionez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Box tries to pull guard but Kinionez won't allow it.
Raul Kinionez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Box.
Kinionez tries to circle away but Box has him pinned against the cage.

Kinionez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kinionez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Box is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Box connects with a nasty looking knee right to Kinionez's face.

Kinionez gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Kinionez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kinionez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Box can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kinionez controls the pace.
Kinionez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kinionez tries to free his leg and advance position but Box is retaining full guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Box wants to get back to his feet but Kinionez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Kinionez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kinionez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Box looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Box wants to stand and escape but Kinionez is having none of it.
Raul Kinionez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kinionez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kinionez passes easily into side control. Nice work.
A lull in the action here as Kinionez stalls from top position.
Kinionez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Kinionez throws a combination. Box tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Kinionez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kinionez lands in his opponent's guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Box takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kinionez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Box to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Box shrugs it off.

Kinionez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Kinionez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Box manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Well, if Kinionez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Raul Kinionez.
No joy there for Kinionez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Box gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Kinionez is working for a guillotine from mount but Box frees his head quite easily.
