PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lucho Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danilo Ishinzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez misses with a straight right.
Ishinzo dodges the punch combination from Rodriguez.

Ishinzo moves into the clinch.
Rodriguez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Rodriguez is working for takedown but Ishinzo is calmly controlling the position for now.
Rodriguez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Rodriguez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rodriguez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Rodriguez wants to get back to striking at distance but Ishinzo won't allow it.
Ishinzo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rodriguez pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rodriguez shoots for a takedown but Ishinzo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucho Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Lucho Rodriguez wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Rodriguez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ishinzo tries to clinch there but Rodriguez circles away.
Ishinzo misses with a straight left.
Rodriguez is looking to clinch but Ishinzo is avoiding it.
Rodriguez digs a good body shot into Ishinzo's ribs.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ishinzo.
Horrible takedown by Ishinzo or perhaps it was just good defense by Rodriguez which made him look bad.
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ishinzo but Ishinzo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rodriguez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ishinzo circles away quickly and effectively.

Ishinzo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ishinzo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rodriguez as he jumps to the side.
Rodriguez fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ishinzo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rodriguez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Ishinzo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Rodriguez. No joy for Ishinzo on that attempt.

Ishinzo is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Rodriguez is trying to escape and Ishinzo transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Rodriguez is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ishinzo! Very nice indeed!
