PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sean Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez has chosen Kanye West - Amazing (instrumental) Ft. Young Jeezy as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Sean Silva has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sean Silva seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fernandez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fernandez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fernandez defends it well.

Silva uses his free foot to push down on Fernandez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fernandez.

Silva seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Fernandez is holding on tight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fernandez tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.
Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Silva cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Sean Silva just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Fernandez wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.

Silva is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Silva misses with a knee strike.
Silva has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fernandez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Silva turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Silva manages to end up in side control.
Fernandez tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Silva stands up.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fernandez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee asks Silva politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Silva prefers to stall for the moment though.
Fernandez can't do much from the bottom here.

Silva decides to stand back up. Silva steps back and let's Fernandez get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Fernandez shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Fernandez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Silva has hold of one of Fernandez's legs. Fernandez is fighting the takedown attempt but Silva gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Silva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fernandez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fernandez has escaped and now he's on top!

Silva manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fernandez is controlling an arm, preventing Silva from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Fernandez is squirming around, avoiding Silva's attempts to control the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fernandez is wriggling around trying to escape.

Silva has hold of Fernandez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fernandez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Fernandez tries to hold on but Silva pushes him away.

Silva working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Fernandez turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Silva off and cradles Fernandez's limp body as Silva celebrates with his corner.
