Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marino Fontes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marino Fontes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Sobral!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sobral enables Fontes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sobral manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fontes throws a strike but Sobral rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Sobral wants to control from the top but Fontes keeps moving.

Sobral avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sobral is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fontes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fontes shrugs it off.

Sobral is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fontes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sobral.

Sobral goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Fontes is on top in guard.

Fontes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sobral looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sobral looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sobral!

Fontes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sobral defends it well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sobral has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Fontes is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

That was a close round but I would say that Marino Fontes will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sobral drops back looking for a leg! Fontes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fontes manages to kick Sobral off! Sobral jumps back into Fontes's guard.

Renato Sobral showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Sobral has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Fontes defend it? Sobral steps over the head and cranks it - Fontes is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sobral!
