PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ishi Inamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jose Aldo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jose Aldo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ishi Inamoto!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldo instigates a clinch.
Inamoto lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Jose Aldo has been cut.

Inamoto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Aldo gets a clinch.
Aldo misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Inamoto.

Aldo wants a takedown but no success here.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Inamoto obliges.
Inamoto lands a good knee to the midsection. Aldo won't want to take too many of those.

Inamoto breaks the clinch.
Inamoto dodges the punch combination from Aldo.
A slapping leg kick lands for Inamoto.
Inamoto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Inamoto scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Inamoto fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Aldo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Inamoto tries to keep at a distance but Aldo has taken the fight into the clinch.

Aldo manages to break the clinch.

Aldo clinches up with Inamoto and pushes him back against the cage.

Inamoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aldo throws a hook but Inamoto avoids it easily.

Aldo has had enough of the clinch but Inamoto keeps him there for the moment.

Inamoto lands an elbow that stopped Aldo in his tracks for a moment.
Aldo tries to land knees in the clinch but Inamoto avoids the damage to the body.

Aldo wants to get back to striking at distance but Inamoto won't allow it.

and Aldo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Inamoto lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Inamoto utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Aldo is breathing heavily.
Inamoto is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Aldo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Aldo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Inamoto breaks the clinch.

Inamoto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Aldo was covering up waiting for the punch and Inamoto finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Inamoto wants to stand and escape but instead Aldo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jose Aldo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Inamoto with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Inamoto connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Aldo scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Inamoto shoots in for a double leg but Aldo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ishi Inamoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Inamoto throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Aldo throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Aldo looks to land a combination but Inamoto avoids it well.
Aldo throws a left and a right that both miss

and Inamoto counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Inamoto is looking to pass Aldo's guard but actually Aldo recovers to full guard.
Inamoto wants to get up but he can't break Aldo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Inamoto is stalling in the full guard.
Inamotois looking to pass into half guard but Aldo pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Aldo is in guard.

Inamoto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Inamoto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Inamoto wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Inamoto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aldo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Aldo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Inamoto trying to control the position from guard on top but Aldo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Inamoto connects with a couple of short punches.

Aldo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Inamoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Inamoto wanted to stand there but Aldo had control of the position.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.

Aldo is working an open guard so Inamoto takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Aldo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Inamoto!

Aldo moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Inamoto has worked his arm free - good work by Inamoto!
Aldo wants to take a breather but Inamoto manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Aldo.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
Inamoto looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Aldo wants to control from the top but Inamoto keeps moving.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Jose Aldo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Inamoto clinches with his opponent.
A frustrated look appears on Aldo's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Inamoto comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Inamoto creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Aldo's defenses.
Inamoto lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Aldo goes for a takedown in the clinch but Inamoto prevents it.

Inamoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ishi Inamoto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Inamoto has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
