Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Emanuel Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patty Green!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz feints and as Green raises his hands in defense, Diaz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Green is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Green pulls Diaz in to control the position.

Diaz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Diaz trying to control but Green is working from the bottom.
Green managing to control the position.
Green looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there.
Diaz throwing strikes from guard but Green blocks nicely.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Patty Green wasn't active enough on the ground.

Green shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Diaz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Diaz parries the strikes from Green easily there. Green is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Diaz to escape.

Diaz sneaks back into half guard.

Green must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Green throws a strike but Diaz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Green has control of Diaz's left arm, preventing Diaz from doing any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz is working Green over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Diaz is fighting to break Green's control of his arms but Green is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Green swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Green is trying to keep Diaz in close.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Green can do anything to dispel that myth.
Green pulls Diaz in close to his closed guard and prevents Diaz from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Diaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Green looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diaz thows a big elbow that misses.
Green has Diaz pulled in close to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Emanuel Diaz will probably get the nod.

Diaz is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Green frees his head nicely. Oh but Diaz has switched to an armbar! Green is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
