PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Barney Fife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sandy Jakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fife might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Fishin Hole. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jakh takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Fife is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jakh is just riding it out for now. Fife eventually gives up the hold.

Jakh working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fife doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fife manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Fife shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jakh's guard.
Jakh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fife. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fife drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jakh manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fife has Jakh in his guard.

Fife isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jakh stacks Fife on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jakh!
Jakh is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Fife looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jakh has picked Fife up and slammed him! Fife can't keep hold of the triangle and Jakh manages to pass to side control!
Jakh wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fife keeps working.

Fife has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jakh is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Fife.

Fife throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jakh escapes and throws Fife's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Fife is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jakh knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jakh for a finish.

Fife is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Jakh has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Fife has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Jakh taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Fife doesn't care though - he's delighted!
