Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Freddie James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Arnold!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arnold misses with a head kick.

James changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Arnold looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Arnold is pushing James's head away, looking to escape. James manages to hold on to the position though.
Arnold can't do much from the bottom here.

James decides to stand back up.
James could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Arnold buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Arnold closes the distance looking to clinch

and James counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Arnold's guard now.
Arnold looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Arnold manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now James has Arnold in his guard.

Arnold must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

James lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Arnold!

James is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

James shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Arnold napping and manages to drive through into side control!

James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Arnold is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

James tries for a kimura but Arnold is defending well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
James is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Arnold is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
James cracks Arnold with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Arnold manages to work his way to half guard, despite James's best efforts.
James is trying to control the action in half guard but Arnold is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

James decides to stand up, so the ref orders Arnold to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Arnold enables James to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Arnold manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

James drops back looking for a leg! Arnold is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Arnold manages to kick James off! James jumps back into Arnold's guard.
James slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
James has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James stands up and waves to Arnold to follow him.
Arnold takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Arnold is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst James is controlling him.

James darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

James stands up and beckons Arnold to join him on the feet.

Arnold throws a jab when James was well out of range.
James works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Arnold throws a low kick but James moves out of range easily.
James moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

James shoots in and gets a takedown into Arnold's guard.
James works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Arnold on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
James seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Arnold does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James stands up and beckons Arnold to join him on the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Arnold tries to clinch but James is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


James misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
James throws a nice looking combination but Arnold bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

James drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Arnold dives on top into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We're going to have a standup here because Freddie James wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

James moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Arnold has worked his arm free - good work by Arnold!

James decides to take the fight back to the feet.

James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

James jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Arnold is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Arnold and James has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

James is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Arnold knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Freddie James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
You can see the frustration on Arnold's face as James controls the position.
Arnold tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but James wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

James seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Arnold for as long as he can get away with.
Arnold tries to improve position but can't.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

James decides to stand back up. James steps back and let's Arnold get back to his feet.
John Arnold is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Arnold walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
James lands a jab-cross combination.
Freddie James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Arnold throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Freddie James showed his dominance in that final round.
Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
