The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coture misses with a takedown attempt
and Karkamanis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Randy Coture has been cut.

Karkamanis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Karkamanis decides to stand back up.

Karkamanis manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coture wants to get up but he can't break Karkamanis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
