Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hyun Kim!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Argo Surtr!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim misses with a series of wild punches.
Kim looks to throw the jab but Surtr is out of range.
Kim connects with a single shot there.
Kim swings for the body but Surtr moves out of range.

Kim drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kim being controlled here momentarily.
Kim looking to pass the guard.
Kim chips away with some ground and pound.
Kim missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kim wants to control from the top but Surtr keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kim preventing the sweep.

Kim postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Kim is fighting to break Surtr's control of his arms but Surtr is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kim looking to sit in guard and control but Surtr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kim escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Surtr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Surtr engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Kim has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Surtr wants to control from the top but Kim keeps moving.
Surtr looking to sit in guard and control but Kim gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Surtr manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kim is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kim tries to hold on but Surtr postures up.
Kim is in all sorts of trouble here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Surtr wants to control the pace but Kim is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kim tries to lock up and control but Surtr gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Surtr in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Surtr wants to control the pace but Kim is squirming around nicely.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Kim is working to get back to half guard.
Surtr controlling from mount.
Kim keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Surtr takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kim is desperately trying to improve his position but Surtr has a good base and remains in mount.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kim is squirming around, avoiding Surtr's attempts to control the action.
Surtr controlling the pace for now.
Kim keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Surtr tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Surtr trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Surtr controlling the position easily from mount.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.

Argo Surtr has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Surtr looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Surtr throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kim throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Surtr tried to score with a low kick but Kim checks it.
Kim lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Surtr circles away quickly and effectively.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kim.
Kim pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Surtr throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kim throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Surtr tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
Kim tries a head kick but it misses.
Kim fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Surtr has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Surtr connects with a solid leg kick.
Kim throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Surtr counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kim is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Some bone on bone action there as Kim checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Surtr slips under a jab from Kim.
Surtr lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Surtr looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Surtr leaves Kim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Surtr avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Surtr tries a head kick but it misses.
Kim throws a head kick that misses
and Surtr counters with an inside leg kick.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Danga de danga de dang - Kim scores with a four punch combination!
Kim on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Surtr. Surtr obviously looking to wear him down.
A jab from Surtr finds it's way through Kim's defenses.
Surtr slips a jab and a cross from Kim.

Kim shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Surtr napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Surtr struggling a bit here.
Kim tries to move to mount but Surtr blocks the move with his legs.
Surtr takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kim postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Argo Surtr will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That kick from Surtr tenderised Kim's leg. Kim is trying to keep his angry face on.

and Surtr counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kim's knee momentarily.
Surtr throws a quick inside leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Kim blocks the leg kick.
Surtr connects with an inside leg kick.
Kim goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

and Kim decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Surtr's guard.
Kim tries to free his leg and advance position but Surtr is retaining full guard.
Surtr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kim manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Surtr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kim swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kim thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Surtr content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Kim has locked up a guillotine! Kim's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Surtr is holding on here and Kim must be using up a lot of energy. Surtr has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Kim gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Hyun Kim!
