Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sam Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw throws a combination that misses
and Williams cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Williams swats away the attempt to clinch by Shaw.
Shaw closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Williams to the mat! Williams manages to get full guard.
Shaw tries to free his leg and advance position but Williams is retaining full guard.
Williams looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shaw is one step ahead there.
Shaw trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shaw is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Williams.
Williams tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Williams wants to control but Shaw postures up.

Shaw misses with the ground and pound.
Williams tries to buck Shaw off but Shaw is having none of it.
Williams struggling a bit here.
Shaw is looking to take a break and control but Williams is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Williams tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shaw wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Shaw grinds an elbow into Williams's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams gets back to half guard.
Williams moves into full guard.
Shaw pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Williams is keeping the position for now.
Shaw has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shaw stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Williams is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shaw is aware though and is defending well.
Williams wants to stand and escape but Shaw is having none of it.
Williams looks gassed!
Williams can't keep his opponent in guard - Shaw advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shaw trying to control the action but Williams is working from the bottom.
Shaw works his way into full mount!

Williams is in a horrible position here. Shaw smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Shaw wants to finish this one by submission but Williams is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shaw.
Shaw trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Williams tries to improve his position but Shaw has taken his back! Shaw has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Williams tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Shaw pushes Williams away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
