The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Berne darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Davis is trying to maintain the position but Berne is very close to passing his half guard.
Davis tries to roll over but Berne keeps him under control.

Berne is looking for a kimura here.
Berne content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Berne stops Davis from getting back to his feet.
Berne takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Davis flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis wants to improve his position but Berne is controlling well.
Berne uses his free foot to push down on Davis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Davis.
Davis is working to get back to half guard.
