Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rock Roll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rock Roll!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Danny McBride!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roll looks to land a right hand but McBride moved out of range.

Roll gets caught flat footed, as McBride shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
McBride stopping the sweep attempt from Roll.
Roll trying to control the position.
McBride pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Roll is keeping the position for now.
Roll wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Roll keeping full guard, as McBride tries to pass.
Roll bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McBride's guard.
McBride wants to stand and escape but Roll is having none of it.

McBride had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Roll defends it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McBride trying to keep a closed guard but Roll is proving a slippery customer.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roll scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. McBride doesn't seem bothered though.
McBride ducks under a wild hook from Roll.

and Roll counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McBride!
McBride wants to hold on but Roll pushes him away.
McBride is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McBride tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Roll raining down shots from the mount!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rock Roll dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McBride misses with a takedown attempt

and Roll counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Roll.

McBride escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roll gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Roll is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
McBride tries to land a sweep but no joy.

McBride looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Roll trying to control but McBride is working from the bottom.

McBride wants to sweep but no luck.
Roll distracts McBride with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McBride avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Roll got a little sloppy there for a moment and McBride has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roll has managed to get both his arms back between McBride's legs - danger averted.
Roll in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Roll trying to control but McBride is working from the bottom.
McBride controls Roll momentarily but Roll frees himself.

McBride working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Roll doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Roll manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Roll knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McBride on the ground.

McBride looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Roll scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Roll trying to control the position from guard on top but McBride is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McBride is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
McBride moves into full mount! Roll won't be happy about that!

Roll has given up his back. Will we see McBride going for some submissions?

Well, with McBride on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Roll is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Roll is trying to remain composed but McBride is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Roll rolls, trying to escape but McBride keeps control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny McBride showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Roll misses with an uppercut

and McBride counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Roll seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
McBride stands and throws Roll's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Roll pushes McBride away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McBride gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

McBride is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Roll has escaped the position, nice work there.
Roll manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roll missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McBride is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McBride keeps control of the position for the meantime.
McBride wants to control but Roll is keeping busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McBride is controlling Roll's position as best he can from this difficult position.
McBride is trying to control but can't.
Roll prevents McBride from improving his position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Danny McBride wasn't active enough on the ground.
McBride takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

McBride takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
McBride takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Roll looks to score with a jab to the body but McBride is just out of range.

Roll decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McBride is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Roll's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Roll's back!
Roll is in bad spot here.

McBride tightening his grip on Roll, looking for the choke.

McBride has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Roll is defending well but eventually McBride manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Roll has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
