PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Killa ko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think ko might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to jay rock blood nigga. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Killa ko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Johns!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johns bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
ko tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johns wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Johns stands up and beckons ko to his feet.

Johns rushes ko and presses him up against the cage.

Johns tightens his grip and picks ko up, before dumping him to the ground. ko manages to land in guard.
Johns seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
It looks like Johns might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Junior Johns has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Johns shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Johns tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
ko holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Johns tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Johns controlling from the full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johns connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Johns tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Junior Johns.

Johns closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. ko did well to prevent Johns getting side control.

ko looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johns takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Johns passes the guard and advances to mount!
Johns controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Johns dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Johns closes the distance and clinches.
ko fails to pull guard.
Johns is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Johns stalling in the clinch.

Johns pulls guard.
Johns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Johns manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. ko manages to get himself to full guard.

ko looking for subs off his back but Johns has passed one foot through into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johns in particular looking to stall.
Johns works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
ko is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Johns has taken his back.

Johns somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Johns has good solid back control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johns patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Johns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



ko tries to keep at a distance but Johns has taken the fight into the clinch.
ko tries for a takedown but Johns manages to get underhooks.

Johns gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Johns showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Junior Johns has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Johns moves into range and clinches up with ko.

Johns gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Junior Johns has got the better of the ground game so far.

ko blocking the ground and pound attempt from Johns.
Johns trying to mount his opponent but ko defends it.

Junior Johns has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Johns shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches ko napping and manages to drive through into side control!
A lull in the action here as Johns stalls from top position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Junior Johns wasn't active enough on the ground.

Johns has taken the fight to the clinch.

Johns gets control of ko's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johns will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Johns manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. ko manages to get himself to full guard.
ko can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johns controls the pace.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Junior Johns wasn't active enough on the ground.

Johns looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for ko!

Junior Johns comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johns has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
