PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Armondo Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Orpik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Orpik told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Orpik.
Armondo Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Orpik has a takedown stuffed.
Rodriguez looks to score with a jab to the body but Orpik is just out of range.
Orpik shoots for a takedown but Rodriguez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rodriguez lands with a nice combination. Orpik backs away looking to recover.
Rodriguez throws a right hand that Orpik ducks under and follows up with a left that Orpik also avoids with ease.
Orpik shoots in but no luck this time.
Armondo Rodriguez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Orpik.
Orpik with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rodriguez to score with a decent uppercut.
Rodriguez throws a right and a left that Orpik avoids nicely.

Orpik fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rodriguez avoids it really well and circles away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rodriguez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Rodriguez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Orpik throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Orpik unloads with some shots from mount but Rodriguez bucks and avoids them well.

Orpik throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rodriguez because Orpik loaded up on that one.
Rodriguez is breathing heavily.
Orpik tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Orpik is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Rodriguez is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Rodriguez flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Orpik anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Rodriguez and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Orpik slips an arm under Rodriguez chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Orpik has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Orpik is squeezing on Rodriguez like an anaconda would it's prey. Rodriguez fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
