PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Torres comes to the cage accompanied by It's My Time-Fabulous. Dog comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Fan of Marrizle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Dog!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres throws a combination that misses
and Dog counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Dog doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Torres counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dog wants to sweep but no luck.
Dog looking to control.
Dog is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Torres trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Dog had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Torres defends it easily.
Torres wants to control from the top but Dog keeps moving.
Torres looking to sit in guard and control but Dog gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Torres wants to sweep but no luck.
Torres wants to control but Dog passes easily into half guard.
Dog is trying to control the action in half guard but Torres is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Torres gets back to full guard.
Torres keeping full guard, as Dog tries to pass.
Dog wants to control from the top but Torres keeps moving.

Torres looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Torres can't keep his opponent in guard - Dog advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Dog passes to full mount!
Dog landing strikes from the mount and Torres is in trouble!

Dog is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Torres can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Torres tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Dog with shots to the head and body - Torres looks very uncomfortable down there.
Dog prevents Torres from getting the reversal.

Dog looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Torres is looking to get to half guard.
Torres is working hard here to advance position.
Dog controlling from mount.

Dog stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Dog will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Torres falls off balance throwing a combination

and Dog counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Torres can't keep his opponent in guard - Dog advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Dog wants to stand up but Torres has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Dog is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Torres is just riding it out for now. Dog eventually gives up the hold.
Torres controlling the position well.
Torres wants to get back to full guard but Dog has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Dog dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Torres is looking to score with low kicks.
Dog scores with a one two! Torres had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Dog instigates a clinch.
Dog fails to pull guard.

Dog pulls guard successfully.

Torres is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dog is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dog has escaped and now he's on top!
Dog wants to pass the guard but Torres is keeping the position.
Dog sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Torres's guard.
Dog seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Torres does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Dog tries to pass the half guard into mount. Torres knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Dog is trying to control. Torres wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Torres trying to control but Dog postures up.
Dog trying to control the action but Torres is working from the bottom.
Dog trying to pass the guard but Torres defending well.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Torres is trying to get back to full guard.
Torres is refusing to be controlled, as Dog sits in half guard.
Torres slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Torres is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dog wants to pass the guard but Torres is keeping the position.
Dog sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Torres's guard.

Dog is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torres wants to improve his position but Dog is controlling well.

Dog seems to be looking for submissions.
Dog frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Torres working to try and regain half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dog working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Torres bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Torres trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Torres drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dog manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Torres has Dog in his guard.

Torres looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dog is one step ahead there.

Torres had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dog defends it easily.
Dog stands and throws Torres's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Dog looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Torres is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Dog showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Dog shoots in for a double leg but Torres sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Torres pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dog.
Dog is trying hard to land a takedown here. Torres sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Felipe Torres has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crazy Dog.
An inside leg kick from Dog misses.
Torres throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dog.

Dog closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Torres to the mat! Torres manages to get full guard.

Torres working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dog doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dog manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dog drops back, looking for a kneebar! Torres looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Torres looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Torres!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Torres is working to tighten is grip on Dog's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Dog has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Torres is really squeezing tight and eventually Dog passes out! Torres breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Felipe Torres!
