PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Sobchak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Burton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burton has chosen Carcass - Keep on Rotting in the Free World as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Sobchak !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Fred Burton!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burton takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Burton bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sobchak 's head.
Burton moves out of range of the strikes.
Burton lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Jeff Sobchak has been cut.
Sobchak staying out of range there.
Sobchak throws a hook to the side of Burton's head but Burton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sobchak swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Burton fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sobchak looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sobchak misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Burton walks forward, straight into a front kick from Sobchak .
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sobchak avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sobchak throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Burton tries to sprawl but Sobchak drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Nice strikes from Sobchak there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sobchak throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Burton wants to control but Sobchak is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Burton slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Sobchak throws and elbow that misses. Burton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sobchak 's guard. Nice move by Burton!
Sobchak is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sobchak manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Burton manages to get himself to full guard.

Burton is trying to control the position but Sobchak postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sobchak throws a big right hand that misses.
Sobchak wants to control from the top but Burton keeps moving.
Sobchak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burton swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Sobchak lands a couple of digs.
Sobchak wants to control from the top but Burton keeps moving.

Jeff Sobchak has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sobchak gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sobchak stuffs the takedown attempt from Burton. Burton gets slowly back to his feet.
Burton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sobchak moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Burton misses with a lunging right hand
and Sobchak counters with a right hand to the body.
Burton looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sobchak thows a body kick. Burton tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Sobchak is looking to clinch.
An inside leg kick lands from Sobchak .
Sobchak lands a nice looking body shot.
Sobchak lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sobchak goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

It looks like Fred Burton has been cut.
Sobchak connects with a high kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Sobchak dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sobchak lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Burton crumples to the floor! Sobchak milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jeff Sobchak !
