Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ed Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Brave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Stephen Lynch - Special Ed. The crowd seem to be enjoying Brave's choice of entrance music: Eco, Eco (somos de taleco). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rod Brave!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brave throws a right hand that misses
and Nelson counters with a stiff right hand.

Nelson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brave's guard.

Nelson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Nelson cracks Brave with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nelson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Brave tries to reverse the position but Nelson maintains control.
Brave slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Brave wants to improve his position but Nelson is controlling well.
Nelson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Nelson passes to full mount!

Nelson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Brave is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Brave and Nelson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Brave manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Nelson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nelson.
Nelson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brave looking to sit in guard and control but Nelson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Nelson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Brave really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brave tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nelson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nelson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Brave moves out of range of the strikes.
Brave cracks the inside of Nelson's front leg.
Brave swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Good exchange - Nelson coming out on top.
Nelson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brave ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brave attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Nice takedown defense from Brave. No joy for Nelson on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nelson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Brave.
Nelson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Brave wants to clinch.
Nelson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Brave tries to clinch up
and Nelson counters with a nice body shot.
Brave does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Nelson has his takedown stuffed
and Brave counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Nelson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Brave!

Nelson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Brave has worked his arm free - good work by Brave!

Ed Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Well Nelson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
