The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elf fails to land with a series of punches.

Magaliaes shoots in for a double leg but Elf sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Magaliaes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Elf sprawls well. Elf wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Magaliaes gets slowly back to his feet.

Elf fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Magaliaes manages to avoid it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Elf wants to control but Magaliaes is having none of it.

Elf misses with a few strikes there.
Elf tries to bum rush Magaliaes with a series of wild strikes but Magaliaes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Elf swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ben Elf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Magaliaes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Elf looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Magaliaes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Elf tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Magaliaes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Magaliaes. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Elf is trying to get back to his feet.

Magaliaes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Elf is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Elf is not content to let Magaliaes control the position.

Jimmy Magaliaes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Elf throws a nice looking combination but Magaliaes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Elf throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Magaliaes's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Elf dives in looking to finish as Magaliaes flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Elf's strikes! Elf is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Magaliaes's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Magaliaes was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
