Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bas Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lourd Cenia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cenia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cenia defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Palmer.
Palmer looks to throw a body kick

and Cenia decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Palmer's guard.
Palmer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Palmer wants to sweep here but Cenia controlling him for the moment.
Palmer trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Cenia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cenia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cenia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cenia is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Cenia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palmer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cenia wants to pass the guard but Palmer is keeping the position.
Cenia has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Palmer is proving hard to escape from.

Palmer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cenia on the ground.

Cenia is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Palmer controlling the position for now.
Cenia prevents Palmer from standing back up.
Cenia is pressing down on Palmer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Palmer is holding on for now.

Cenia wants to pass the guard but Palmer is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cenia takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Cenia frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Cenia has control of Palmer's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Palmer regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Cenia wants to finish this one by submission but Palmer is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cenia.

Cenia lands a nice shot to the head.
Cenia with shots to the head and body - Palmer looks very uncomfortable down there.

Cenia is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Palmer has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Cenia is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Palmer has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Palmer!

Cenia scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Cenia closes the distance but Palmer moves to the side

and Palmer holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Cenia tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cenia drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Palmer gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bas Palmer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lourd Cenia.
Palmer misses with an elbow over the top.
Cenia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Palmer smiles and moves away.

and Cenia counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cenia throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Palmer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cenia is working away from the top position though.
Palmer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

and Palmer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Palmer wants to control from the top but Cenia keeps moving.
Palmer is really struggling to control Cenia but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Cenia is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bas Palmer.

Cenia with a lazy takedown attempt

and Palmer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cenia won't be happy with that.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Palmer tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cenia's legs.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Palmer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Cenia sneaks out the side door and pushes Palmer away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Cenia slips a jab from Palmer.
Nice sprawl there from Cenia as Palmer shoots in.
Palmer keeps the fight on the outside.
Palmer stuffs the takedown attempt from Cenia. Cenia gets slowly back to his feet.
Cenia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Palmer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cenia as he jumps to the side.
Cenia tries to clinch there but Palmer circles away.

and Cenia counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cenia.
Cenia throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Palmer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Palmer is on top in guard.
Palmer won't allow Cenia to get back to his feet.
Cenia has a closed guard, preventing Palmer from standing up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cenia is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Palmer is controlling him well.

Palmer tries to score with some ground and pound. Cenia controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Cenia sneaks out the side door and pushes Palmer away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Palmer counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cenia's guard now.

Palmer gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Cenia moves in looking to clinch but Palmer pushes him off.

Palmer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cenia napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cenia is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Palmer asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Palmer decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cenia to his feet.
Cenia is looking to clinch.

Cenia clinches up against the ropes.
Cenia jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Palmer walks away with a smile on his face. Cenia gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Palmer wants to stand up but Cenia is controlling him.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
