Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Sichev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Besik Shamba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Besik Shamba told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yuri Sichev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Besik Shamba!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sichev looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Sichev looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Sichev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shamba utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sichev postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sichev trying to control but Shamba is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shamba can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sichev throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shamba works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sichev is in close to Shamba's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Sichev chips away with some ground and pound.
Shamba preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sichev slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sichev stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Sichev changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shamba tries to avoid it but Sichev manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shamba to the ground. Shamba escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sichev throws a head kick that misses
and Shamba counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Shamba throws an overhand right that lands on Sichev's shoulder, as Sichev tries to avoid the shot.
Sichev closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shamba circles away.
Sichev has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yuri Sichev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sichev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shamba pinned against the cage. Shamba gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sichev moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sichev shoots in for a double leg but Shamba sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shamba lands with a nice body punch.
Shamba lands a big head kick that sends Sichev tumbling to the mat! Shamba takes a step backwards and waves Sichev back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Sichev is rocked!
Sichev fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Yuri Sichev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sichev is breathing heavily.
Shamba goes for a small jab and connects. Now Shamba goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Sichev stumbles back but Shamba runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Sichev to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Sichev will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Besik Shamba!
