Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andy Bernard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fou Rthihovsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bernard's entrance music is My Highlights. A fine choice. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Bernard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fou Rthihovsky!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rthihovsky throws a body punch but Bernard moves out of range.
Bernard avoids the body shot from Rthihovsky.
Bernard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rthihovsky throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bernard closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Bernard shoots in and gets a takedown into Rthihovsky's guard.

Rthihovsky had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bernard defends it easily.
Bernard keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rthihovsky's head.

Rthihovsky is looking for a triangle but Bernard pushes his legs off easily.

Rthihovsky avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bernard is pushing down on Rthihovsky's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rthihovsky is fighting to maintain full guard but Bernard has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bernard is looking for a kimura but Rthihovsky is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bernard to get the leverage.

Bernard seems to be looking for submissions.
Bernard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rthihovsky keeps working.

Bernard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bernard throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rthihovsky works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bernard is trying to control the action in half guard but Rthihovsky is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Fou Rthihovsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rthihovsky ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bernard moves away.
Bernard doesn't manage to clinch there - Rthihovsky circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bernard looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Fou Rthihovsky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bernard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rthihovsky with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Andy Bernard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rthihovsky is trying to defend against the choke here but Bernard has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Bernard Tightens the hold and Rthihovsky taps out furiously! Bernard displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
