PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rj Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxim Harevich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maxim Harevich acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Rj Dias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Maxim Harevich!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harevich closes the distance but Dias moves to the side
and Dias counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Dias closes the distance and clinches up with Harevich, looking for a takedown. Dias pushes Harevich against the cage but Harevich circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dias shoots for a double leg takedown but Harevich sprawls well. He's pushed Dias's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Harevich has Dias up against the cage in a clinch.
Harevich landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Harevich lands a knee to the head.
Dias tries to land knees in the clinch but Harevich avoids the damage to the body.
A left hand lands to the body for Harevich.
Harevich misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Dias.
Dias tries to pull guard but Harevich won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rj Dias. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dias takes a knee to the side of the body.
Dias wants a takedown but no success here.
Dias stalls.
Dias drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Harevich looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Harevich manages to break the clinch.
Dias misses with a takedown attempt

and Harevich moves into the clinch.

Harevich pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Dias has closed the distance and engaged Harevich in a clinch.
Dias tries to pull guard but Harevich holds him up against the cage and eventually Dias drops back down to his feet.
Harevich is trying to force a seperation but Dias has the dominant position.
Harevich throws an elbow but it misses.
Harevich is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Dias keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Harevich's efforts to push away.

Harevich's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dias tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Harevich paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Dias counters with a three punch combo that has Harevich backing up. Harevich nods at Dias to acknowledge the strikes.

Harevich is trying to escape the position but Dias is controlling the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dias seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Harevich for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rj Dias wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Dias misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Harevich tries to clinch

and Dias counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Dias stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harevich swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dias stays in close to Harevich's body and controls the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dias has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Dias has a takedown stuffed.
Dias dives in and grabs Harevich's left leg, looking for a takedown. Harevich pushes down on Dias's head and hops out.
Rj Dias is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Dias looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dias is looking to advance position but Harevich won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dias in particular looking to stall.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Harevich tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Dias manages to move to mount!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Harevich is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Dias takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rj Dias has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dias.
Dias in side control, just content to control the action for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rj Dias dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Harevich wants to clinch up but Dias keeps it at a distance.
Harevich showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dias.
Harevich throws a right and a left that Dias avoids nicely.

Dias fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Harevich sprawls well initially but Dias persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dias is taking a breather. Harevich says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Dias trying to mount his opponent but Harevich defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dias controlling the pace.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Harevich is looking to escape.
Dias is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rj Dias wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Dias rushes Harevich and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Harevich has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Dias lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Harevich or not.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harevich misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Dias.
Dias drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Harevich gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Dias ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dias no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dias throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Harevich takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dias moves into range and clinches up with Harevich.
Dias jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Harevich walks away with a smile on his face. Dias gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Harevich closes the distance but Dias moves to the side

and Dias moves into the clinch.
Dias takes a shot to the head.

Dias jumps into guard, dragging Harevich to the mat.
Dias pulls Harevich in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harevich must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dias fails in his attempt to clinch.
Maxim Harevich has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dias clinches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rj Dias showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dias, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
