The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thurston bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cohen is looking to regain half guard here but Thurston keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Cohen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Thurston tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thurston has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cohen cracks the inside of Thurston's front leg.
Thurston throws a solid leg kick but Cohen takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Thurston.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thurston.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thurston accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Thurston drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thurston jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Thurston misses with a takedown attempt - Cohen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Thurston drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thurston tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Thurston has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cohen decides to stand back up. Cohen steps back and let's Thurston get back to his feet.
Cohen seems to be stalking Thurston here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Thurston drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
