Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between G Row (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Fatch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Fatch has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Fatch!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fatch works the jab nicely.
Row misses with a double jab.
Fatch throws a right and a left that both miss.
A big right from Fatch misses.
Fatch darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Row tests Fatch's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Row bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Row checks the leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Fatch. No joy for Row on that attempt.
Row fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Fatch throws a right hand that misses

and Row decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fatch's guard.
Fatch throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Fatch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fatch is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Row stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Fatch to get to his feet.
Fatch throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Fatch looks gassed!

Row shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fatch's guard.

Row works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Fatch is looking for a sweep. Row is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Row wants to pass to mount but Fatch is defending the position.

Row is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fatch defends it well.
Fatch is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Row closes the distance and clinches up with Fatch, looking for a takedown. Row pushes Fatch against the cage but Fatch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for G Row. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fatch throws a series of punches but Row moves out of range.

Row scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Row thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fatch sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Fatch punching from the bottom.
Fatch is trying to maintain the position but Row is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Some wild striking there from Fatch.

Row looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Fatch looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Row decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fatch, up you get!

Row shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Row stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fatch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Row avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Row trying to control but Fatch is working from the bottom.
Fatch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Row tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Fatch is pressing down on Row's thigh, looking to free his foot. Row is holding on for now.

Row gets full guard.
G Row overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fatch drops back looking for a leg! Row is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Row manages to kick Fatch off! Fatch jumps back into Row's guard.
Fatch is breathing heavily.
Row is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Row is on top in guard.
Fatch looking for a sweep. Not yet Fatch, not yet.

Row stands up from guard. Let's bang!

and Fatch counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Row darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Row works his way into side control.

Row tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Fatch gets back to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Row prevents Fatch from standing back up.

Row decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Fatch misses with a wild combination.
Fatch connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fatch throws a poor cross that misses

and Row counters with a nice double leg into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fatch manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Row keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fatch connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

G Row dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


A combination from Fatch does no damage.
Fatch tries to bum rush Row with a series of wild strikes but Row uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fatch throws a series of punches but Row avoids them all with ease.

Row shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Row tries to pass to full mount but Fatch defends it.
Fatch is trying to stand up here but Row is controlling him well.
Fatch is looking to improve his position.
Row content to control rather than advance.
Fatch tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Fatch wants to control but Row is keeping busy.
Fatch takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Row trying to mount his opponent but Fatch defends it.
Row scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Row closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fatch is looking to control Row's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fatch avoid being mounted?
Fatch makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fatch.

Row stands up from guard. Let's bang!
G Row is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fatch throws a right and a left that Row avoids nicely.

Row fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fatch sprawls well initially but Row persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Row drops an elbow to the side of Fatch's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Row moves nicely into side control.
Fatch is not content to let Row control the position.

Row stands up.
Fatch scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Row clinches with his opponent.
Row is working for takedown but Fatch is calmly controlling the position for now.
Row blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fatch fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Fatch tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Row is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Row fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Row goes for a takedown attempt but Fatch pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for G Row. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Fatch counters with a straight right hand.
Fatch misses with an uppercut.
No luck for Row with that takedown attempt.
Row fails with the takedown
enabling Fatch to counter with a crisp jab.
Fatch scores with a jab to the jaw.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fatch stuffs the takedown attempt from Row. Row gets slowly back to his feet.
Fatch throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fatch misses with an uppercut.
Fatch might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Fatch throws a series of punches but Row avoids them all with ease.
Jim Fatch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fatch bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Row's head backwards.


Row is rocked!
Fatch fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

And that's the end of the fight!
G Row showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Row, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
