The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romero drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stone wants to get back to his feet but Romero drags him back down.
Stone trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Stone counters with a three punch combo that has Romero backing up. Romero nods at Stone to acknowledge the strikes.

Stone is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Romero manages to get to full guard.
Stone wants to get up but he can't break Romero's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stone wants to stand and escape but instead Romero has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Romero lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Romero has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
