PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Pearce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Orton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Orton has chosen What the World Needs Is a Few More Rednecks by Charlie Daniels as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Adam Pearce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Orton!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pearce.
Pearce tries to score with some ground and pound. Orton controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Pearce is looking to take a break and control but Orton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pearce tries to advance to mount but Orton denies him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pearce decides to stand back up. Pearce steps back and let's Orton get back to his feet.
Pearce tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pearce has a takedown stuffed.
Pearce throws a right and a left that both miss.
Orton slips a jab and a cross from Pearce.

Orton cracks Pearce with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Pearce looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Orton finish him?


It looks like Adam Pearce has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Orton pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Orton tries to bum rush Pearce with a series of wild strikes but Pearce uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pearce fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Orton avoids it really well and circles away.
Orton throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Pearce counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Pearce is breathing heavily.
Pearce wants to control from the top but Orton keeps moving.
Pearce wants to stand but Orton is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pearce trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Orton manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Orton is stalling in the full guard.

Pearce looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Orton puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Orton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Pearce is looking to improve his position.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Let's hope that Orton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Orton was stalling too much, according to the referee.
No joy there for Orton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Pearce scores with a takedown into Orton's guard.

Pearce gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Pearce misses with a series of wild punches.
Pearce tries to clinch there but Orton circles away.
Pearce tries to bum rush Orton with a series of wild strikes but Orton uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pearce pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Orton back to the cage. Pearce follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Jason Orton has been cut.

Pearce throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Orton tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pearce is in Orton's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pearce pushes down on Orton's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Pearce scoring with strikes to the body and head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pearce feints and as Orton raises his hands in defense, Pearce changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Pearce gets to his feet. Orton looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Pearce throws a push kick but Orton slaps the foot to one side.

Pearce throws a right hand that Orton ducks under and follows up with a left that Orton also avoids with ease.

Pearce shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Orton pinned against the cage. Orton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Pearce shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Orton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Pearce might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pearce would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pearce lands with an uppercut that bounces Orton off the cage and back into rage.
Pearce misses with a head kick.
Pearce swinging wildly here.
Pearce lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Orton circles away quickly and effectively.
Adam Pearce is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pearce misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Pearce shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pearce has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Orton is proving hard to escape from.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Orton, as that shot connected.

Pearce moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Pearce changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Orton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Adam Pearce overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pearce tries to free his leg and advance position but Orton is retaining full guard.

Orton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
