PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jules Winnfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Mortensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jules Winnfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Mortensen!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mortensen lands a jab-cross combination.
Mortensen closes the distance and clinches up with Winnfield, looking for a takedown. Mortensen pushes Winnfield against the cage but Winnfield circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mortensen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Mortensen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Winnfield tries to avoid it but Mortensen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Winnfield to the ground. Winnfield escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mortensen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mortensen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We're going to have a standup here because Jules Winnfield wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

That was a close round but I would say that Jules Winnfield will probably get the nod.

Winnfield rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mortensen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Mortensen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Winnfield's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. David Mortensen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
