The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Garza, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Garza against the cage but Garza circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Garza goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jones prevents it.
Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Garza just stands there and leans against the cage.

Garza tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Jones looks for a takedown but Garza sprawls well.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Garza as he jumps to the side.
Jones has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Garza.
Edmond Garza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Garza, pushing him back against the cage.
Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Garza shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Garza's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Garza lands with a hook. Jones tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Garza has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jones drops down looking for an ankle pick but Garza pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Garza tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Garza to the ground. Garza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Garza pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Garza backing up. Garza nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.

Garza throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones circles away from the clinch attempt
and Jones counters with a right hand to the body.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Garza as he avoids it easily.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Garza manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
