PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cup Coffee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogers comes to the cage accompanied by Ted Nugent's Stranglehold. Cup Coffee told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cup Coffee!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Coffee counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Coffee.
Coffee seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cup Coffee was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Coffee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rogers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A chopping leg kick lands by Coffee.
Coffee uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rogers has time to react.

Cup Coffee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Coffee counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Coffee is pressed up against the cage. Rogers has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Coffee down to the mat. Coffee avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Coffee stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Coffee throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rogers tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Coffee is in Rogers's guard.

Rogers gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Coffee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rogers takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Coffee looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Cup Coffee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Coffee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
