Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pierre St Ives (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think St Ives might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to In a Big Country by Big Country. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pierre St Ives!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Silva!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva misses with a double jab

so St Ives counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
St Ives passes Silva's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
St Ives thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Silva to regain full guard.

St Ives postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of St Ives, into his guard.
Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Silva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but St Ives manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Silva has St Ives in his guard.

St Ives is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Silva knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

St Ives bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Silva's head backwards.

St Ives escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

St Ives drops back, looking for a kneebar! Silva looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Silva looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Silva!

Silva swings around for an armbar but St Ives sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Silva's guard.

Silva manages to escape and get back to his feet.
St Ives cracks Silva with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Silva enables St Ives to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Silva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

St Ives postures up in Silva's guard and throws a big left but Silva blocks it.

St Ives walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

St Ives closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Silva quickly recovers to half guard.

St Ives jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Silva is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Silva and St Ives has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

St Ives goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Silva has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for St Ives but great work by Silva.

St Ives is really struggling to control Silva but he's trying to hold on to the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
St Ives has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Silva's body.

We're going to have a standup here because Pierre St Ives wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pierre St Ives.
Well St Ives has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
