The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes tries to bum rush BALA with a series of wild strikes but BALA uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A punch combination from BALA misses.
BALA takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Hughes throws a right and a left that both miss.

Hughes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
BALA will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hughes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from BALA.
Hughes lands a head kick. BALA smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
BALA is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hughes.

BALA walks into a stiff left hand from Hughes.

Hughes throws a series of strikes that have BALA backpedaling.

BALA fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hughes manages to avoid it.

and Hughes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hughes connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

BALA is rocked!
Hughes fails to land with a series of punches.
BALA is still on wobbly legs! Can Hughes finish him?
A nice inside leg kick there by Hughes. That's going to slow BALA down.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hughes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
BALA looks gassed!
Hughes misses with the combination.
Hughes's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Hughes duly obliges.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hughes throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends BALA stumbling backwards into the cage! BALA bounces back off the cage towards Hughes, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Hughes lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Hughes celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
