Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ken Mic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wayne Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mic sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Edwards somewhat.
Mic gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Edwards counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Mic is looking for a triangle but Edwards pushes his legs off easily.

Edwards has gone for a leg lock! Mic slips out almost immediately though and dives into Edwards's guard.
Mic wants to pass the guard but Edwards is keeping the position.

Edwards isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mic stacks Edwards on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mic!
Edwards is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Edwards tries to roll over but Mic keeps him under control.

Edwards looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Mic seems to be looking for submissions.

Edwards actively working from the bottom here.
Edwards avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mic.
Mic working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mic works his foot free and advances to mount.
Mic is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Edwards is looking to get to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Edwards is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Mic has control of Edwards's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Edwards regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Edwards tries to hold on but Mic pushes him away.
Edwards is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mic avoids the attempt from Edwards to control.
Edwards is just holding on here. Mic manages to take his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mic punishes Edwards with strikes from the back mount.
Edwards trying to control the hands but Mic won't let him.

Mic patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Mic has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Mic is breathing heavily.
Edwards looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Mic doesn't have the hooks in and Edwards manages to turn into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mic tries to strike from the bottom.

Mic throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Edwards escapes and throws Mic's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Mic is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Mic dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mic tries to sprawl but Edwards drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Edwards is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mic regains full guard. Nicely done.
Mic trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Edwards drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mic dives on top into guard.

Edwards is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mic defends well.
Mic trying to control the position from guard on top but Edwards is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Edwards is looking for a triangle but Mic pushes his legs off easily.
Edwards is breathing heavily.
Mic slips nicely into half guard.

Edwards looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Edwards is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mic pulls his head out easily.

Mic is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Edwards defends it well.
Mic is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mic looking to isolate an arm here. Edwards doesn't see it coming and as Mic extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Mic!
