The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mung connects with a nice looking jab.
Mung swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mung blocks the body kick.
Mung fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cooney avoids it really well and circles away.
Mung misses with a looping left.
Mung throws an off balance right hand
and Cooney counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Mung checks a leg kick.
Jamie Cooney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mung cracks a nice hook into Cooney's ribs.

Mung shoots in and gets a takedown into Cooney's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cooney is working for a submission of some sort.
Cooney working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mung manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mung looking for a sweep. Not yet Mung, not yet.
Mung really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cooney swings for the body but Mung moves out of range.
Cooney shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mung defends it nicely.

Mung cracks Cooney with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Mung tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cooney was well out of range. Poor timing from Mung.

and Mung cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cooney keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Mung misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mung checks a leg kick.
Mung takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Mung fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cooney looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Cooney connects with a leg kick. Mung looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Mung moves out of range of the body kick from Cooney.
Cooney misses with a hook
and Mung counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mung thows a left - swing and a miss!
Cooney shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Mung checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Mung fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Cooney tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mung manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mung checks the leg kick nicely there.
Mung feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cooneys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Cooney closes the distance and clinches.
Mung goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cooney prevents it.

Cooney breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mung on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Cooney fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mung sprawls well initially but Cooney persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cooney moves into full mount! Mung won't be happy about that!
Cooney landing strikes from the mount and Mung is in trouble!

Mung wants to control but Cooney is having none of it.
Cooney in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Mung tries to hold on but Cooney postures up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cooney unloads with some shots from mount but Mung bucks and avoids them well.

Cooney has hold of Mung's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mung manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Cooney unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Mung wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Cooney celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
