Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quentin Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hannibal Hatfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cane's entrance music is Alice In Chains - Man In The Box. A fine choice. Hatfield is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Flirtin With Disaster. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quentin Cane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hannibal Hatfield!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatfield ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cane on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hatfield looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cane connects with a nice looking jab.
Hatfield tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cane manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hatfield is looking to clinch but Cane is avoiding it.
Hatfield swings for the body but Cane moves out of range.

Cane throws a poor cross that misses
and Hatfield counters with a head kick. That will keep Cane thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Cane counters with a shoot takedown. Hatfield fights it but they end up in guard.

Cane got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hatfield has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cane has managed to get both his arms back between Hatfield's legs - danger averted.
Hatfield utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hatfield can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cane controls the pace.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cane accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hatfield takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Hannibal Hatfield is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hatfield misses the jab.
Hatfield moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hatfield feints and then cracks Cane's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cane down.

Cane takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hatfield, right into the meat.

Cane scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.


It looks like Hannibal Hatfield has been cut.
Cane scores with a body shot.
Hatfield is looking to clinch but Cane is avoiding it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Cane swings for the body but Hatfield moves out of range.
Cane misses with a wild body shot.

Hatfield scores with the left hand. Cane knows he should have avoided that one.

and Hatfield counters with a head kick.
Hatfield misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hatfield scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Hatfield misses with a lunging right hand
and Cane counters with a nice body shot.
Hatfield misses with a left hand
and Cane counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hatfield misses with a left hand
and Cane counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cane swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hatfield throws a left and a right that both miss

and Cane counters with a shoot takedown. Hatfield fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cane is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hatfield is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hatfield has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Hatfield uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cane.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cane looks to score with a jab to the body but Hatfield is just out of range.
Hatfield throws a right hand that Cane ducks under and follows up with a left that Cane also avoids with ease.

A low kick from Cane misses
and Hatfield counters with a body kick.
Hatfield throws a jab when Cane was well out of range.
Cane takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cane.
Hatfield uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cane.

That kick from Hatfield tenderised Cane's leg. Cane is trying to keep his angry face on.

Hatfield looks to score with a jab to the body but Cane is just out of range.
Hatfield lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hatfield swings widly with a right hand
and Cane counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Hatfield doesn't manage to clinch there - Cane circles away.

Cane fails with a takedown attempt.
Hatfield throws a sloppy body shot

and Cane counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hatfield's guard now.
Cane tries to free his leg and advance position but Hatfield is retaining full guard.
Cane engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Hatfield not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hannibal Hatfield has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cane missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Hatfield keeping moving, preventing Cane from controlling successfully.
Cane is really struggling to control Hatfield but he's trying to hold on to the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Quentin Cane.
Hatfield lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Hatfield tries a low kick but Cane avoids it.
Hatfield misses with a double jab.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Quentin Cane.
Well Cane has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
