Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yannick Riesling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Vachon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andre Vachon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Yannick Riesling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Andre Vachon!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riesling takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Vachon throws a jab when Riesling was well out of range.
Riesling looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vachon is fending him off so far but Riesling persists. Nope, Vachon circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Riesling.
Vachon throws a right hand that misses

and Riesling decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vachon's guard.
Riesling with a flurry of punches that miss.
Vachon is adopting a defensive guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Riesling's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Riesling throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vachon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Riesling drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Riesling jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Riesling drops back looking for a leg! Vachon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vachon manages to kick Riesling off! Riesling jumps back into Vachon's guard.

Riesling trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vachon can do anything to dispel that myth.

Riesling drops back, looking for a kneebar! Vachon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Vachon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Vachon!
Riesling sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Riesling has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Riesling is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Riesling is looking to control Vachon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Riesling avoid being mounted?
Vachon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Riesling keeps working.

Riesling looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Vachon stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Riesling shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Vachon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Riesling postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vachon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Riesling, into his guard.
Vachon wants to stand but Riesling is controlling his posture from full guard.

Riesling is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vachon is aware though and is defending well.
Vachon postures up.
Riesling looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vachon is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Riesling is working hard here to advance position.
Riesling bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vachon's guard.
Riesling sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vachon's guard.
Vachon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vachon.

Riesling is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vachon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vachon has escaped and now he's on top!

Vachon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vachon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Yannick Riesling will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Vachon connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Vachon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Vachon misses with a shot to the body

and Riesling counters with a single leg into guard. Vachon didn't expect that.

Riesling has gone for a leg lock! Vachon slips out almost immediately though and dives into Riesling's guard.
Riesling has a closed guard, preventing Vachon from standing up.
Vachon preventing the sweep.
Vachon postures up.
Vachon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riesling. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Riesling looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Vachon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Riesling is keeping the position for now.

Vachon wants to stand but Riesling has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Vachon postures up.
Riesling looking for a sweep. Not yet Riesling, not yet.

Riesling is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vachon defends well.
Riesling wants to sweep here but Vachon controlling him for the moment.

Riesling is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Vachon rolls with it to try and escape but Riesling cranks on the arm and Vachon is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
