Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shane Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson comes to the cage accompanied by I'm so Sick by Flyleaf. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Santos should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Thompson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santos tries to avoid it but Thompson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santos to the ground. Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Thompson closes the distance and clinches up with Santos, looking for a takedown. Thompson pushes Santos against the cage but Santos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Santos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Thompson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Santos ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thompson moves away.

Santos is trying to trip Thompson. He has hold of a leg but Thompson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Santos persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Thompson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Santos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Santos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Thompson is working away from the top position though.

Santos is looking to control Thompson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Santos avoid being mounted?

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Santos is looking to improve his position.
Santos works his way to full guard. Good work.
Santos is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Santos pulls Thompson in close to prevent any damage.
Santos tries to strike from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown. Santos tries to sprawl out of it but Thompson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Thompson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Santos is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Thompson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Santos's back instead.
