PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon has chosen Last resort as his entrance music. The key to victory for Pablo Escobar has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pablo Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Grant Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gordon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Gordon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Escobar knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gordon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Escobar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Gordon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Escobar wants to get back to his feet.
Gordon slows the pace down in half guard.
Gordon trying to control from half guard but Escobar is working away.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Grant Gordon wasn't active enough on the ground.
Escobar misses with a two punch combination.

Gordon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gordon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
It looks like Gordon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Escobar is trying to stand.
Escobar is not content to let Gordon control the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Grant Gordon wasn't active enough on the ground.
Escobar fails to land with a series of punches.
Escobar looks to throw the jab but Gordon is out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Escobar throws a series of strikes that have Gordon backpedaling.


It looks like Grant Gordon has been cut.
Escobar thows a body shot but no joy.
Escobar lands with a good body shot.
Gordon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gordon slips under a jab from Escobar.
Escobar lands with an uppercut that bounces Gordon off the cage and back into rage.
Escobar missing with a left hand there. Gordon was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Pablo Escobar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A combination from Escobar does no damage.
Gordon slips under a jab.
No luck for Gordon with that takedown attempt.
Escobar throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Escobar cracks Gordon with a good jab.


Gordon is rocked!
Gordon looks gassed!
Escobar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gordon is still on wobbly legs! Can Escobar finish him?
Escobar rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Gordon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Escobar's guard.
Escobar wants to stand up but Gordon is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gordon engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Gordon seems to have recovered his senses.
Gordon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gordon postures up in Escobar's guard and throws a big left but Escobar blocks it.
Gordon content to stall in guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Grant Gordon hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Gordon closes the distance and clinches up with Escobar, looking for a takedown. Gordon pushes Escobar against the cage but Escobar circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pablo Escobar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grant Gordon.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gordon moves out of range of the strikes.
Escobar drops Gordon with a huge uppercut! Gordon drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Escobar is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pablo Escobar!
