Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Qhjasd Kooryt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Katarn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Qhjasd Kooryt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Katarn gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Katarn has Kooryt pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Katarn pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kooryt tumbling to the mat - Katarn dives into Kooryt's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kooryt tries to close the distance and clinch but Katarn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Katarn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Katarn wants to stand but Kooryt has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Katarn dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Katarn gets to his feet. Kooryt looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kooryt is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Katarn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kooryt's head.

Katarn decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kooryt, up you get!

Katarn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Katarn tries to score a body lock takedown but Kooryt shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Katarn has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kooryt is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Qhjasd Kooryt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Katarn.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Qhjasd Kooryt.

Katarn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kooryt as he jumps to the side.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Katarn connects with a nice short shot to Kooryt's temple.

Katarn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kooryt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Oh Kooryt is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Poor strikes thrown by Katarn there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Well Katarn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
