Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ashley Banjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ashley Banjo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ashley Banjo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ned Alonso!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banjo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Alonso manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Banjo moves in looking to clinch but Alonso pushes him off.
Alonso takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

and Alonso counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Alonso tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banjo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Banjo dodges the punch combination from Alonso.

Banjo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Alonso looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

and Alonso counters with a nice double leg into side control. Banjo won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The ground and pound from Alonso seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Alonso throws an elbow but Banjo slips to the side and avoids it well.

Banjo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alonso content just to control the position here.

Alonso stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Banjo tries to clinch but Alonso is having none of it.

so Alonso counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ashley Banjo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Banjo is breathing heavily.
Alonso sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Banjo's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ned Alonso wasn't active enough on the ground.
Alonso tries to clinch up but Banjo circles away and keeps his distance.
Alonso lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Banjo circles away quickly and effectively.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Alonso.
A lull in the action here as Alonso stalls from top position.
Alonso scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Banjo to see if he's OK.

Alonso closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alonso lands in his opponent's guard.
Banjo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alonso!

Alonso lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Banjo backs up against the cage.
Banjo throws a right hand that Alonso ducks under and follows up with a left that Alonso also avoids with ease.
Alonso tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banjo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Alonso drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Alonso works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Banjo has hold of Alonso's hands but Alonso slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Alonso is nestled in close to Banjo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Alonso is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Alonso frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
