PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lord Humungus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zane Viren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Humungus comes to the cage accompanied by My Speech. Viren comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Beethoven Virus - BanYa kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Humungus has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Viren finds it's way round the side to connect with Humungus's head.
Zane Viren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Viren misses with a lunging right hand
and Humungus cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Viren gets a clinch.
A short body shot lands from Humungus as the two fighters clinch.

Humungus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Humungus thows a body shot but no joy.

and Humungus counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Humungus wants to work for an arm triangle but Viren is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Viren is looking for a sweep. Humungus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Viren has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Humungus is working away from the top position though.

Humungus throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Viren works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Humungus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Viren looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Viren not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Viren is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Humungus is controlling him.

Humungus with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Humungus drops back looking for a leg! Viren is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Viren manages to kick Humungus off! Humungus jumps back into Viren's guard.
Humungus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
