PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tatsuo Nakano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grigori Rasputin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nakano comes into the arena with Disturbed - Decadance blaring out of the sound system. Rasputin has chosen Turisas - Rasputin as his entrance music. Grigori Rasputin will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tatsuo Nakano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Grigori Rasputin!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakano fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nakano tries to clinch up.
Nakano tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rasputin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rasputin misses with a hook
and Nakano counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Rasputin throws a poor cross that misses
and Nakano counters with a left to the body.
Nakano ducks under a wild hook from Rasputin.

enabling Rasputin to counter with a crisp jab.
Nakano thows a body shot but no joy.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rasputin can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Nakano counters with a shoot takedown. Rasputin fights it but they end up in guard.
Nakano won't allow Rasputin to get back to his feet.

Rasputin wants to stand and escape but Nakano is having none of it.

Nakano thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Nakano prevents Rasputin from getting back to his feet.

Nakano is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rasputin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nakano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rasputin wants to get back to his feet but Nakano is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Nakano drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nakano jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rasputin wants to stand but Nakano is controlling the position.

Nakano misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Rasputin to counter with a crisp jab.
Rasputin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Rasputin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Nakano misses with a body shot.
Nakano misses with an uppercut
and Rasputin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Rasputin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tatsuo Nakano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rasputin digs a good hook to Nakano's body.
Nakano moves out of range of the strikes.
Nakano throws the left hand but Rasputin avoids the punch easily.

Rasputin looks to score with a jab to the body but Nakano is just out of range.
Rasputin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Rasputin counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grigori Rasputin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Grigori Rasputin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Rasputin throws a right hand that misses
and Nakano counters with a left and a right that stings Rasputin.
Grigori Rasputin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nakano gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rasputin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Tatsuo Nakano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nakano slips a straight right by Rasputin.
Rasputin throws an overhand right that lands on Nakano's shoulder, as Nakano tries to avoid the shot.
Nakano doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Rasputin counters with a nice right hand that sends Nakano toppling to the canvas! Nakano scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Rasputin finish him?!


It looks like Tatsuo Nakano has been cut.

Rasputin pushes Nakano off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Rasputin counters with a right hand to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rasputin connects with a body shot that sends Nakano's belly button to the back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rasputin throws a lazy uppercut
and Nakano counters with a three punch combo that has Rasputin backing up. Rasputin nods at Nakano to acknowledge the strikes.
Rasputin misses with an uppercut. Nakano saw that one coming.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nakano is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rasputin.

And that's the end of the fight!
Grigori Rasputin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rasputin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
