The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banjo looks to clinch
and Lai counters with a stiff right hand.

It looks like Ashley Banjo has been cut.
Lai doesn't manage to clinch there - Banjo circles away.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Lai misses with a knee strike.
Banjo goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lai prevents it.

Lai using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Banjo has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Lai connects with a nasty looking knee right to Banjo's face.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Banjo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ashley Banjo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Banjo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lai gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lai throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Banjo blocks it with crossed arms.
Banjo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lai walks away with a smile on his face. Banjo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Banjo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lai counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Lai fails to land the takedown.

Banjo feints and as Lai raises his hands in defense, Banjo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Banjo is breathing heavily.

Lai working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Banjo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Lai is tightening it up a little... Banjo has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Banjo reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Banjo taps out! nice BJJ there by Lai!
