PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vince Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Shearer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shearer has chosen Drowning Pool - Bodies (Let The Bodies Hit The Floor) as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Vince Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Alan Shearer!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shearer fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Shearer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nash, pushing him back against the cage.
Shearer stalling in the clinch.

Nash drags the fight down to the ground.

Nash is looking for a triangle but Shearer pushes his legs off easily.
Shearer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Nash has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Shearer has passed into side control.
Shearer tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Shearer decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nash to his feet.
Nash stuffs the takedown attempt from Shearer. Shearer gets slowly back to his feet.
Shearer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nash circles away.
Vince Nash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Shearer.

Nice sprawl there from Shearer as Nash shoots in.

Nash shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nash was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Shearer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nash is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Shearer!

Nash with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Nash has hold of Shearer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shearer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Nash is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shearer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Nash can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shearer is looking to escape.

Shearer is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Nash has managed to free his arm - good work.
Still in half guard, Shearer seems content to control.
Nash wants to get back to full guard.
Shearer is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Nash is looking to improve his position but Shearer isn't that keen on the idea.

Shearer is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Nash has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Shearer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nash's guard.

Shearer is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nash can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Shearer goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Nash is on top in guard.

Shearer had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nash is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Shearer Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nash's back instead.

Shearer is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Nash is defending well though. Shearer let's go of the attempt for now.

Shearer has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Nash is in real trouble here. Shearer gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Nash is tapping out! Shearer wins by rear naked choke!
