Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Everlez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Tait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Everlez comes into the arena with Hotel California - The Eagels blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Everlez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Tait!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tait shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tait was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Everlez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Tait looking to control but Everlez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Tait really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Everlez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tait controlling the position easily from mount.
Let's hope that Tait has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
BOOM! Tait connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Tait takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Tait is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Everlez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Everlez wants to hold on but Tait pushes him away.
Everlez is squirming around, avoiding Tait's attempts to control the action.

Tait looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Tait can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Everlez is looking to escape.
Tait controlling the position easily from mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tait wants to control the pace but Everlez is squirming around nicely.
Everlez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Tait controlling the pace for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. George Tait was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Everlez throws a right and a left that Tait avoids nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Everlez as Tait shoots in.

and Tait counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Tait wants to stand up but Everlez is controlling the position.
Tait working Everlez over with strikes.
Everlez tries to roll over but Tait keeps him under control.
Tait is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Tait winds up and cracks Everlez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tait trying to control the action but Everlez is working from the bottom.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Tait seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Tait is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Everlez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tait.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Everlez is trying to control but can't.
Tait seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Everlez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Tait not doing much here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by George Tait.
Tait shoots in for a double leg but Everlez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Everlez avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Tait dominated that round.
That's time! Everlez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Tait gets the takedown into side control.
Tait scoring with punches from side control.
Tait wants to lay and pray for a moment but Everlez keeps working.
Everlez tries to bench press Tait off him but Tait keeps the position.
Tait takes a little break here. Everlez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Tait is looking to take a break and control but Everlez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Tait might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Everlez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by George Tait.

Tait gets the takedown into side control.
Tait moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Everlez tries to buck Tait off but Tait is having none of it.

Tait cracks Everlez with a big elbow.
Everlez is trying to improve his position.
Tait controls the position.
Tait connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Everlez some visible discomfort.
Everlez taking punishment in the form of punches.
Check out the look on Tait's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Tait decides to take the fight back to the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Everlez enables Tait to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Everlez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Tait looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Tait looking to sit in guard and control but Everlez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Everlez tries to free his leg and advance position but Tait is retaining full guard.

Tait looking to hit a scissor sweep but Everlez is one step ahead there.
Tait pulls Everlez in close to his closed guard and prevents Everlez from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Carlos Everlez just wasn't active enough.
Everlez misses with a body shot.

Tait darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Everlez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Tait showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Tait doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Everlez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tait's guard.
Everlez wants to stand and escape but instead Tait has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
George Tait has got the better of the ground game so far.
Everlez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Everlez keeping moving, preventing Tait from controlling successfully.
Tait controlling from the top position.
Tait trying to control the position from guard on top but Everlez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tait controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. George Tait wasn't active enough on the ground.
Tait has a takedown stuffed.
Carlos Everlez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Tait counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Tait.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tait throws a strike but Everlez avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Everlez has his foot on Tait's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tait works his way back into a safe position though.
Tait makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Tait trying to control but Everlez is working from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. George Tait hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Tait fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Everlez avoids it really well and circles away.
Everlez misses with a double jab.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tait shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Tait is thwarting Everlez's attempts to control the position.
Everlez is refusing to be controlled, as Tait sits in half guard.
Carlos Everlez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carlos Everlez.
I think Tait has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
