The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morales doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Higgins counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Morales shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Higgins counter with a right hand.
Higgins waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Morales.
Higgins thows a left - swing and a miss!
Morales tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Higgins counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Morales's guard now.

Higgins throwing strikes from guard but Morales blocks nicely.
Morales pulls Higgins in close to prevent any damage.
Higgins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Higgins counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Morales!

Higgins cracks Morales with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Poor strikes thrown by Higgins there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Morales wants to hold on but Higgins pushes him away.
Higgins lands a big shot there that rocks Morales but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Higgins unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Morales wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Higgins celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
