Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Renton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jonathan Black has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Renton!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Renton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Black!
Black is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Renton controlling his opponent.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Black is desperately trying to improve his position but Renton has a good base and remains in mount.
Black flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Renton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Black tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Renton controlling the position easily from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Renton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Renton was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Black gets caught flat footed, as Renton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Renton controls from within his opponent's guard.
Renton slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Black.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Black wants to control but Renton is keeping busy.
Black is trying to get back to full guard.
Renton with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Black bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Renton is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Renton dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Renton tries to clinch but Black is having none of it.
Black misses with a takedown

and Renton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Black's guard.
Black can't keep his opponent in guard - Renton advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Black trying to control but Renton postures up.
Black is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Renton jumps into side control!
Renton controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Black is trying to control Renton's posture but Renton avoids it.
Renton taking a breather here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Black tries to clinch up

and Renton counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Renton.
Black is struggling to control the position.

Black's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Renton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Renton clinches up with Black and pushes him back against the ropes.
Renton drops down looking for an ankle pick but Black pulls his leg out and moves away.
Black has his takedown stuffed

and Renton counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Renton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Renton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Black blocking the ground and pound attempt from Renton.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Renton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Black's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


The fight stays on the outside here - Renton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Black has his takedown stuffed

and Renton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mark Renton has got the better of the ground game so far.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Renton in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mark Renton.
Renton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Black.

Renton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Black looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Black struggling a bit here.
Renton slows the pace down.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mark Renton.

Renton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mark Renton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Black tries to buck Renton off but Renton is having none of it.
Renton staying calm.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Black tries to bench press Renton off him but Renton keeps the position.
A lull in the action here as Renton stalls from top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Renton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Renton winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
