Wainui's entrance music is "Rockafella Skank" Fatboy Slim. A fine choice. Hawkins has chosen Fly Like an Eagle - Steve Miller Band as his entrance music. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Hawkins misses.

Hawkins throws a lazy uppercut
and Wainui counters with a right hand to the body.
Hawkins moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wainui lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wainui throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Hawkins counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hawkins misses with an uppercut
and Hawkins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Zion Wainui seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Wainui counters with a three punch combo that has Hawkins backing up. Hawkins nods at Wainui to acknowledge the strikes.

Wainui throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hawkins slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Wainui just misses with a punch to the body.

and Wainui counters with a left to the body.
Hawkins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice uppercut lands for Wainui. That snapped Hawkins's head back.
Hawkins throws a right hand that misses
and Wainui counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Wainui jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hawkins misses with a double jab
and Wainui counters with a leg kick.
A punch lands to the side of Hawkins 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Hawkins throws a right hand that misses
and Hawkins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wainui walks into a left hand.
Carmine Hawkins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wainui misses with a combination
and Hawkins counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Wainui shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wainui was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hawkins wants to control but Wainui is having none of it.
Wainui can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hawkins is looking to escape.

Wainui tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Wainui throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Wainui is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Wainui extends the arm and Hawkins is forced to tap!
